“Everything that is done must strengthen all of you.”
(1 Corinthians 14:26)
This Bible verse reminds us that church should help people grow, encourage one another and point people to Jesus.
The values below help shape everything we do at Gateway.
How we make room for the Holy Spirit while following biblical order.
We believe the Holy Spirit is still at work today. He speaks, changes lives, brings comfort, gives wisdom and equips His people with spiritual gifts.
We also believe God is a God of order. That’s why each service, prayer meeting and small group has someone leading it. Their role is to prayerfully guide the gathering, helping ensure that everything points people to Jesus, strengthens the church and creates a welcoming environment for everyone.
“For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.” (1 Corinthians 14:33)
Church isn’t a performance to watch - it’s a family to be part of.
We encourage everyone to take part in church life. Whether that’s worshipping, praying, listening to God’s Word, serving on a team or encouraging someone else, every person has a part to play.
At the same time, there are moments during our gatherings where public contributions are guided by the person leading the meeting, helping everyone participate together in a way that builds up the whole church.
“All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)
Public prayer & praise should encourage the whole church.
There may be times when the person leading invites people to pray for a particular need or opens a time for the church to pray and praise together.
Before praying or praising publicly, we ask that you wait until the opportunity is given.
When praying publicly, we encourage prayers that are centred on Jesus, rooted in the Bible and mindful that there may be children, new Christians and people attending church for the first time. Our desire is that everything shared publicly encourages others and points people to Jesus.
“Everything that is done must strengthen all of you.” (1 Corinthians 14:26)
We welcome spiritual gifts and prayerfully weigh what is shared.
We believe God still speaks today and that the gift of prophecy is for strengthening, encouraging and comforting His people.
If you’re new to Gateway and believe God has given you a prophetic word to share publicly, please speak to Pastor Luke or the person leading the meeting first. This gives us the opportunity to prayerfully consider the right time and way to share it so that it strengthens the church.
“Let two or three people prophesy, and let the others evaluate what is said.” (1 Corinthians 14:29)
We protect the unity of our church family.
Gateway is made up of people from many different backgrounds and experiences. We won’t all think the same about every issue, but we are united by our faith in Jesus.
We want to be known for humility, kindness and love. We encourage everyone to honour one another, support the leadership of the church and help protect the unity that Jesus calls us to.
“Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” (Ephesians 4:3)
How our church is led.
We believe God gives leaders to care for, equip and guide the church. At Gateway, our leadership team seeks to serve with humility, prayer and faithfulness to God’s Word.
While we encourage everyone to use the gifts God has given them, our leaders have a responsibility to prayerfully oversee the life of the church and help ensure that everything we do points people to Jesus and strengthens His people.
If you ever have a question, need support or would like to talk to someone, we’d love to hear from you.
“Remember your leaders who taught you the word of God. Think of all the good that has come from their lives, and follow the example of their faith.” (Hebrews 13:7)
Whether this was your first visit or you’ve been coming for a little while, we’d love to help you take your next step. That might be joining us again on Sunday, attending a prayer meeting or small group, exploring baptism, or finding a place to serve.
There’s no pressure - we simply want to help you grow in your relationship with Jesus and become part of the Gateway family.

If there’s anything you’d like to ask about Gateway or anything you’ve read on this page, we’d love to help. Speak to Pastor Luke or one of our leadership team after a service, or get in touch during the week. We’d be glad to chat and help you take your next step.
