Join us from 1st–7th September for Revive Us Again, a week of prayer and fasting inspired by Psalm 85. This week is about putting God at the centre of our lives and seeking His will as we step into the final months of the year. Whether you’re fasting food, social media, or something else, take this opportunity to draw closer to Jesus and pray for our church, our community, and all that God still wants to do in 2025. Let’s finish the year with expectant hearts, ready to hear from Him and see Him move in powerful ways. Together, let’s seek His presence and believe for fresh revival!
Join us each day as we dive deeper into specific areas of focus, helping us align with what God is doing during this powerful week.
Today, take a moment to remember all that God has done. Think about His faithfulness, forgiveness, and how He has restored you and His people. Ask Him to work afresh in your heart, renewing and restoring your spirit. Let’s seek His presence and start this week of prayer and fasting with joy and a steady heart.
Today, pray for God’s restoration in your life and in our church. Ask Him to turn away His anger and show His mercy, just as the psalmist prayed. Invite Him to heal what is broken, bring back joy, and renew hope in your heart. Let’s trust Him to restore us again and guide us in His ways as we continue this week of prayer and fasting.
Today, pray for God’s revival in your life and in our church. Ask Him to breathe new life into your spirit and renew your passion for Him. Invite His presence to awaken faith, hope, and joy within you. Let’s seek His revival, trusting that He can refresh and restore us as we continue this week of prayer and fasting.
Today, ask God to show His unfailing love in your life and in our church. Pray that His faithfulness would guide and protect you, bringing peace and hope. Let’s open our hearts to His love, trusting that He will lead us in the way of life as we continue this week of prayer and fasting.
Today, ask God to help you hear His voice clearly. Pray for the courage to obey and the wisdom to follow His ways. Let’s be attentive to His guidance, trusting that He will speak peace and life into our hearts as we continue this week of prayer and fasting.
Today, pray for God to work deeply in your heart and life. Ask Him to bring His truth and righteousness together, shaping your thoughts, actions, and attitudes. Let’s invite Him to transform us from the inside out, so His peace and faithfulness flow through us as we continue this week of prayer and fasting.
Today, pray for God to go before you and our church. Ask Him to make our paths straight, guide our steps, and bring His blessings wherever we go. Let’s trust Him to lead us in righteousness, so that peace and salvation follow us as we finish this week of prayer and fasting.
Fasting is more than just abstaining from food or certain activities; it’s a deliberate act of focusing on God. Throughout Scripture, fasting is portrayed as a powerful way to humble ourselves before the Lord, clear away distractions, and create space for His presence in our lives. When we fast, we’re setting aside physical needs to prioritise our spiritual relationship with God. It’s an intentional way of saying, “God, You’re more important to me than anything else.”
Fasting is not about trying to earn God’s favor or twist His arm to get what we want. Instead, it’s about positioning ourselves to receive what God already desires to give us. By fasting, we recalibrate our hearts, removing the noise and clutter of daily life, and focusing our attention on God. This spiritual discipline opens the door for God to move more freely in our lives, revealing His will and deepening our connection with Him.
We fast because we recognise our need for God above all else. Fasting is a spiritual reset, a time when we step away from the distractions of the world and seek God with all our hearts. It’s a way of expressing our dependence on Him and our desire to draw closer. In fasting, we follow the example of Jesus, who fasted for 40 days in the wilderness before launching His ministry. Throughout history, believers have fasted as a way of seeking God’s guidance, strength, and presence.
When we fast, we’re not just giving something up; we’re opening ourselves up to gain something far greater: deeper intimacy with God, greater sensitivity to His Spirit, and a renewed sense of purpose. Fasting is a powerful way to say, “God, I want more of You,” and to trust that He will meet us in that desire.
Fasting can take different forms, depending on what God is leading you to do. Traditionally, fasting involves abstaining from food for a specific period of time. Some might choose to fast from certain types of food, like Daniel did when he ate only vegetables and water. Others might choose to fast from meals altogether for a day or more.
But fasting isn’t limited to food. You can also fast from other things that might be distractions in your life, such as social media, television, or other activities. The key is to replace those things with time spent in prayer, reading Scripture, and seeking God’s presence.
As you fast, it’s important to stay focused on why you’re doing it. Use the time you would normally spend on those activities to draw closer to God. Pray more intentionally, listen for His voice, and reflect on His Word. Remember, fasting is not just about what you’re giving up, but about what you’re gaining, a deeper connection with God.
In this season of fasting, let’s approach it with expectation, believing that God will do incredible things in our lives, our church, and our community as we seek Him together.
